This residential extension and refurbishment in Richmond was designed by award-winning Popular Architects.
The large glass extension dramatically increases the kitchen/dining area. It is characterised by a 'laser cut' 2.5m steel cantilevered canopy, the pattern of which is derived from a dress worn by the client on a first date.
In the centre of the extension's rear glass sliding doors is a floor-to-ceiling polished plaster 'pod' that from the inside becomes the family dining area.
The roof of the extension is structural glass and doubles as a roof terrace with views over the property's landscaped gardens and new children's play area; also part of CC Construction's work package.
Throughout the rest of the four-storey 5,000sq ft property, CC Construction carried out a complete refurbishment. This included the restoration of period features such as the mosaic Victorian tiling in the entrance hall and the repair of damaged cornices.
